The world of aspirational travel, pioneered by Louis Vuitton, and recently brought back as a key part of the brand’s positioning is being sliced ever thinner by competitors. First the resurgent Goyard, make it claim to the romance of old-world travel.
Now Bottega Veneta, which has been sharpening up its act for some time, takes a move into the world of the at-home steamer trunk…
Italian designer Bottega Veneta could make a world traveler feel at home with chests of drawers based on a classic leather trunk design, complete with carrying handles on the sides, in its furniture range. The luxury design brand showed two-drawer and three-drawer chests which looked like trunks stacked ready for a passage or a cruise at its showroom on Thursday. — (Via Reuters)
In recent years, Bottega Veneta has gone from strength to strength, and now finds its moment in a sober era for luxury. Creative director Thomas Meier is widely regarded as the standard-bearer for a new kind of luxury: subtle and made to last.
